Berm Life ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Berm Life mobile application and website (berm.life). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password (stored securely via AWS Cognito). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers.
Profile & Preference Data
We store your skill level, preferred riding styles, home location, and trip planning data to personalize your experience.
Usage Analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage data including screens visited, features used, and app performance metrics. This helps us improve the app. PostHog may set cookies or use local storage for session tracking on the web version.
Automatically Collected Information
We may collect device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, and general location data (country/region level) through our analytics and infrastructure providers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: • Provide and maintain our service • Personalize trail and destination recommendations • Improve and optimize the app experience • Communicate with you about your account or service updates • Ensure the security and integrity of our platform
3. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following third-party services that help us operate: • AWS (Amazon Web Services) — Cloud infrastructure, authentication (Cognito), data storage (DynamoDB, S3). Data encrypted at rest and in transit. • PostHog — Product analytics. Collects anonymized usage events. See PostHog's privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy. • Google Places API — Used to discover local businesses near trail destinations. We send location queries; no personal data is shared with Google through this integration.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including: • Encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL) • AWS Cognito for secure authentication and password hashing • Access controls and least-privilege principles for backend services • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
